The Oceanarium was the first visitor attraction in Bournemouth to be awarded VAQAS status – reflecting our commitment to providing a quality experience for all visitors.
VAQAS is the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service. It is VisitBritain’s quality assessment service for all types of visitor attractions throughout England.

The Oceanarium is the proud winner of the 2007 Marketing Initiative of the Year Award, for the World’s first Interactive Dive Cage. The Oceanarium also received this award in 2006 and has been highly commended in the Visitor Attraction of the Year category for the last 2 years.
The Bournemouth Tourism Awards are a celebration of achievement, innovation, quality and excellence within the Bournemouth area.

The Oceanarium’s Interactive Dive Cage, in association with Flaming Pear Interactive, is the winner of the 2007 Use of Technology Award in the Museum & Heritage Awards for Excellence.
Created by The Museums & Heritage Show, the awards recognise and celebrate best practice within museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions.
In association with Flaming Pear Interactive, the Oceanarium’s Interactive Dive Cage is the 2007 BIMA Innovation Award winner.
The BIMA Awards celebrate creative excellence in interactive design. This award is given to the project considered ‘the most outstanding example of innovation in interactive design’.
