With the country gripped by election fever, the award-winning Oceanarium in Bournemouth is calling on visitors to help with its own poll, to determine which group of creatures holds overall majority at the seafront attraction.
Prompted by next week’s vote, staff at the aquarium are asking visitors from Saturday (May 1) to Thursday (May 6), to count the number of creatures that are either coloured red, blue or yellow, or have names that incorporate the colours of the three main parties in the election battle.
Oliver Buttling, Group Curator of the Oceanarium, said: “With the forthcoming election dominating every newspaper headline and news bulletin, we thought it would be interesting to carry out our very own poll, to see which group of creatures claims an overall majority at the Oceanarium.
“From yellow boxfish and red knobbed starfish, to regal tangs, which are a striking shade of blue, will our fishy friends foresee the outcome of next week’s election?”
