Hawaii is the world’s most remote group of Islands located in the tropic of Cancer in the middle of the world’s largest Ocean the Pacific.
Look on any globe and you will see that the volcanic islands that make up Hawaii are very much alone in the middle of the Pacific far from other islands and landmasses.
Although the main islands are only a few million years old, it is thought that islands have been present in this location for the last seventy million years.
The ancestors of Hawaii’s marine life all originated elsewhere and most would have arrived at the islands as larvae drifting in the Ocean currents.
