Group Visits - Educational Visits

The Oceanarium is an ideal environment for learning -discover a wide range of aquatic creatures and habitats linked to elements of the National Curriculum. Plasma screen documentaries, interpretation boards and the world’s first Interactive Dive Cage will engage and inspire your pupils – bringing learning to life!

The Oceanarium is an all weather, indoor attraction suitable for all ages and abilities from pre-school, KS1 and KS2 through to GNVQ students.

All pre-booked groups of 10 or more paying people receive special discounted rates (see below for details). To further enhance your visit, why not download our free education packs.

For education groups we will also offer 1 free teacher place for every 10 paying children.

We will also offer one teacher at our teacher rate (£4.95) with every 10 paying children.  All additional adults must pay the standard adult group rate (£7.75) regardless of whether they are teachers, class room assistants, parents etc.

Please note: To receive discounted rates, groups must pre-book 48hours (minimum) before the date of your visit. It is advised that the maximum group size is 20. Larger groups will be divided into more manageable numbers, with staggered entry into the Oceanarium of at least 15 minutes.

Make your group's visit to the Oceanarium completely hassle free with our pre-ordered giftbags!

For only £2.99 per pupil, we can provide a fantastic reminder of their trip, pre packed and great value - all ready for you to collect at the end of your visit.

Each giftbag contains stationery items such as a pencil, pen, a set of wax crayons, a postcard, a badge  and a clicker logo band.* For more details, please ask when booking.

RIsk Assessment

The Oceanarium has an excellent Health & Safety record. We would recommend Teachers read our Risk Assessment and Risk Assessment Guidance prior to their visit to familiarise themselves with our layout, facilities etc. These documents are available to download from our Teacher Resources page, or please contact us.

Teachers are welcome to visit the Oceanarium to carry out their own assessment (2 teachers per school). Please contact us to arrange your familiarisation trip. ID from your school will be required.


how to get here 

There is a coach drop-off point situated by the BIC, approximately one minutes walk, across a pedestrianised plaza, from the Oceanarium. The nearest coach park is at Queen’s Road Car Park – situated just off the Wessex Way (less than a mile from the Oceanarium). For further information click here and here.

The nearest car park for mini buses (approx. 18 seaters) is the Winter Gardens which has space for 5 mini buses.
