It has almost five million supporters on five continents, who raise money and take action to tackle issues from the survival of species and habitats to climate change, sustainable business and environmental education. WWF was launched on 23 November 1961, and WWF-UK was the first National Organisation in the WWF International network. Today, we have offices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The mission of WWF is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by:

  • conserving the world's biological diversity
  • ensuring that the use of renewable resources is sustainable
  • promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption

Marine Conservation Society

Created to protect and and promote the UKs marine-life, wildlife and environment.

The Marine Conservation Society is the UK's national charity dedicated to the protection of the marine environment and its wildlife. It does not receive any direct government funding for its work so the financial support of members, donors and fund-raising supporters is a vital component in raising the necessary cash to enable MCS to work on a very wide range of threats facing the marine environment and its wildlife.

Dorset Wildlife Trust

The DWT was founded in 1961 to protect the wild life and natural habitats of the county. Our founders' efforts to conserve the unspoilt beauty of the county attracted wide ranging support, and the Trust, a registered charity, now has over 9,000 members.

The Trust's main activity is to acquire and manage nature reserves for the benefit of the wildlife of Dorset. We have 40 established reserves, ranging from a tiny island in the river Stour to our most recent acquisition, Upton Heath.
