Operations Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Oceanarium Bournemouth for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join the team. Reporting to the UK Director, they will be based at the Oceanarium and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of all of the site's non animal functions. The Oceanarium Bournemouth is a well-known and respected medium sized aquarium located at Bournemouth Pier and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Parques Reunidos, one of the largest tourist attraction operators in the world with locations throughout Europe and America.

Whilst leading the attraction in delivering a fun and memorable experience for all our guests, responsibilities will also include:

• All stages of personnel management from recruitment to onboarding following through into training and development and ensuring all employee welfare.
• Managing all aspects of site maintenance, cleaning and facilities ensuring that high standards are consistently met.
• Daily operational management of all cash and finance, guest service and experience.
• Overseeing the management of the catering, retails and admissions departments.
• Taking overall responsibility for the business in the absence of the UK Director.

The candidate:

• Must have substantial management experience at a senior level and have demonstrated working in a multi-functional commercial business, preferably in the attractions and entertainments sector.
• The ability to manage relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Experience in ensuring paramount health and safety across a business and an understanding of safety legislation.
• Excellent motivation and communication skills.
• Sound knowledge in managing operational budgets.
• Experience in reviewing and updating operational procedures as needed.
• Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.

With an annual salary of £36,000, a competitive benefits package, 28 days holiday, complimentary tickets to the attraction, this role also carries enrolment on the company bonus scheme which would allow an additional 15% of the salary to be earned.

This role is a full-time permanent position with a schedule of 40 hours a week over 5 days. There will be weekend and bank holiday work involved to cater for our busiest times. This position also includes Duty Management responsibility, leading the Duty Management Team.
