Penguin Beach Encounter

Fall head over flippers in love with our colony of playful penguins who reside in Penguin Beach Encounter.

Their brand new custom-built exhibit was specifically designed to replicate the birds’ natural habitat with a deep pool, beach, rockery and nesting boxes. A glass fronted beach walkway and underwater viewing windows allow visitors to marvel at how they gracefully dip and dive through the water.

Penguin Beach Encounter is the centre piece of a £1.5 million two storey investment and five years of planning. It’s the biggest project the Oceanarium has undergone since opening in 1998, increasing the size of the aquarium by a third!

Birds are an amazing brand new addition to the Oceanarium’s ever-growing aquatic family, expanding its current collection of fish, reptiles, invertebrates and mammals even further.

Penguin Feeding Presentations can be seen at 12.00pm and 3.30pm.
