Calm at the Oceanarium

The Oceanarium is not only committed to providing a magical underwater experience for visitors but to also make everyone feels welcome and relaxed when they visit. With this in mind, we would like to introduce Calm at the Oceanarium; an event for families with sensory needs.

Families will be able to explore all of our enclosures at a calmer period of the day in general, in more relaxed lighting, screens and music turned off and no daily talks, so the focus is purely on the animals and the environment around you.

  • Summer period: (From the beginning of February half term – October end of half term) 3 – 6 pm (Last entry 5 pm)
  • Winter period: (From the end of October half term – beginning of February half term) 3 – 5pm (Last entry 4 pm)
  • Occurs every Thursday (excluding school holidays)

  • These sessions will still be open for everyone to enjoy, yet signs and information will be put up to remind everyone that a sensory session is in place.
  • Sensory sessions exclude school holiday periods.
  • CALM at the Oceanarium will be running between 3:00 – 6:00 pm in summer with last admission at 5 pm and during winter is from 3:00 – 5:00 pm with last admission at 4:00 pm.
  • June & July do get busier with school groups however there are signs in place to remind visitors that a calm session is in place and to be mindful.
  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
