Amphibian and Reptile Conservation

To give a voice to the UK's amphibians and reptiles - saving species, improving habitats and enhancing lives in the process.

AIMS TO

Amphibians and Reptile Conservation (ARC) is a UK charity actively working to conserve wildlife and to provide the voice it needs to survive into the future. As a leading custodian of UK amphibians and reptiles and the habitats they depend on, ARC is well positioned to make a positive difference towards conserving biodiversity. The UK’s wildlife is in urgent need of support! Our amphibians and reptiles require particular attention. These animals play a crucial role in our ecosystems and hold significant cultural associations within the UK.

Currently, nearly a third of Britain’s reptiles and amphibians are under threat of extinction.

These native species serve as flagships for our threatened habitats and help foster understanding and appreciation of the natural world, it is important to do what we can to conserve and protect them.

MISSION

To give a voice to the UK's amphibians and reptiles - saving species, improving habitats and enhancing lives in the process.

OCEANARIUM PARTNERSHIP

At the Oceanarium we have partnered with ARC to create a lesson plan for our visiting schools. This lesson focuses on identifying native species (mainly in the UK) and highlighting their importance. It also looks into non-native and invasive species and the impact they have on their environment. This is our only partnered lesson plan, having now had our education team trained by the ARC team for a more accurate and effective lesson. View more details about the lesson here.

Our team will also be volunteering with ARC to complete reptile surveys and habitat management on some of our local reserves to help support and boost local biodiversity and the conservation of our native amphibian and reptiles.

How you can help

ARC owns and manages over 80 reserves across the country.

There are many ways to get involved and volunteer:
